We need faith to believe God´s promises.

The promises cannot fail me. A wonderful song with incredible lyrics. The promises that God has given us, they remain forever. He promises and He keeps what He has promised.

I haven´t been able to find any translation of this song. I´m adding in one of the Swedish recordings I´ve found. The Soloist was my best friend growing up, she has an amazing voice.

Faith will carry us Christians through everything. Today, many people have trouble believing, or perhaps feel that it does not carry them all the time. Many who have been stuck in the Word of Faith movement, for example, do not even know how faith works, due to the lack of teaching. If there´s something we are now really aware of it´s that Gods people are perishing due to the lack of teaching and understanding.

Faith really isn´t a difficult thing, that is if you know how it works. Paul describes it in Hebrews 11: 1 Faith is a firm assurance of things hoped for, a conviction of things not seen. It´s to trust that what God says is true.

When we understand what faith is, it also becomes easier to understand how the great godly men could believe, or the centurion whose servant was sick.

Math 8:5-13 When he had entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to him, appealing to him, “Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly.” And he said to him, “I will come and heal him.” But the centurion replied, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard this, he marveled and said to those who followed him, “Truly, I tell you, with no one in Israel have I found such faith. I tell you, many will come from east and west and recline at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, while the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” And to the centurion Jesus said, “Go; let it be done for you as you have believed.” And the servant was healed at that very moment.

When we get a grip on what faith is, then we also get a deeper understanding of how e.g. Abraham could obey God and take his son with him to sacrifice him. We can understand how the centurion could so totally trust that if Jesus said a word, that would be enough. We can then also seriously sing along in the text of The Promises Cannot fail us, and believing that what the lyrics addresses will happen.

We have the old godly men in the Bible, the apostles and others who lived later, who were full of confidence that what God said would happen, happened. Our faith can become stronger if we look at these and their lives. The apostles who did not hesitate to go straight into death for their faith in Jesus and God, it should act as a strength for us lately and make us truly trust God. Because faith is about trusting in God, what He has done and saying that He will do.

Reading about the faith of others should strengthen us in our faith. It shouldn´t work the other way around, that they had faith, I don´t. A childlike trust in God should be the result of reading about others' faith in God, because in the Bible we also see the consequences of faith. The centurion thought his servant would be healed, and he did. Abraham trusted that God would be able to raise Isaac from the dead if needed, Isaac was spared, and father and son praised God together.

If all these believers in the Bible trusted and we can see that what they trusted came through, then the trust in God's power should grow stronger in us.

Faith isn´t somethingthing that we ourselves have to fight to get, which for those who have been stuck in movements whose teaching are bad, is exactly what it has become, something you fight for, in your own power, even though you really don´t know what fith is.

Faith is based on a historical understanding. Without faith, we can not expect everything to be ok, no matter what situation we find ourselves in. Faith is as vital to us as the air we breathe. And just as air gives us oxygen, so faith is nourishment for our heart and soul.

Tro är: 1. nödvändig för frälsning,

2. en gratis gåva av nåd,

3. en mänsklig handling,

Faith is:

1. necessary for salvation,
2. a free gift of grace,
3. a human act;
4. something certain,
5. works outwardly through charity,
6. something constantly growing
7. a taste of heaven.

To walk in faith, without seeing, means that even though we may not see God working right now, we can trust and believe that he is preparing us for blessings and deliverance from what we are facing somewhere along the way.

Living a life of faith - is a total confidence that God's ability is your first response to any situation or circumstance in life. It doesn´t depend at all on the worlds system or your own ability. Belief outside of God's word is not a way of life for the Christian.

Trusting in God's promises, that's what faith is about. We are saved by believing what God has said in his word. So trusting in God's promises becomes the same as believing in the promises God has given us. Promises and rely on / believe in they go hand in hand.

If troubles comes, how do we act ?

Who do we turn when our problems pile up? An important issue for us Christians. It´s real easy that we start working through our own problems in our own strenght instead of turning them over to the Lord. But God has promised us that He will bear our burdens, and more than that, He has told us that we´re to help each other to bear the burdens.

It's so easy to forget this bit when the problems pile up and turn into high mountains. It´s precisely then that we really need to throw ourselves completely and our worries on God and have confidence that He will give the right help at the right time.

I know a person where the mother went through a tough period, which led to the mother taking a shine to the liquor. Alcohol reinforced the trait of self-pity and becoming stubborn and assertive. At one point, this drunken grandmother would promptly take her grandchildren out to town. To get to town, the grandchildren would get in the car and she would drive. The daughter said no over and over again, and in the end there was no way out, but to rush to bed, bend her knees and cry out to the Lord. Almost at once, her husband came in and started talking to her and she told him to be quiet. But he kept talking and when she really listened, he told her that her mother had fallen asleep in the middle of the continued bickering out by the car and he needed help to carry her mother in. God intervened at once, right when she knelt and wept before Him.

Many of us have surely been experiensing things where we´ve turned to the Lord, and once we´ve done it the Lord intervenes. But strangely enough, we can forget these things where the Lord intervened later when other problems arise. In that respect we humans are weird.

God in His word has told us to cast our burdens on Him 1 Pet 5: 7 and not just once. What an incredible God we have.

Ps 55:23 Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.

Jes 41:13 For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, Saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’

The storms are raging from time to time, for all of us, the problems turn into high mountains and look almost impregnable. And most of us are not mountaineers.

How do we get the right perspective when everything feels tough? It is one thing to know that the Lord bears our burdens and that our brothers and sisters in the faith will help carry them, another to truly trust the Lord and the siblings to bear them.

Somehow we need to get wings and fly, because if we look at high mountains from an airplane, they don´t look that big. In short, we need to look at the problems from God's perspective, instead of from our own.

A song came to me, which rather often happens to me, it was used extensively as an evangelistic song in the 70's.

Jesus isn´t only the answer to our world, He is also the answer to us Christians and to our problems. What stood out to me in the song and what actually came up was the 2nd verse. Worries tend to obscure the sun and everything turns into the darkest night. It´s extra important in these moments, that we actually have our eyes fixed on Jesus himself.

Fixate your eyes upon Jesus, look into reality itself, every things around, you will melt away like snow, in the light of His power and glory.

Om problemen hopar sig, hur agerar vi ?

När problemen hopar sig, vem vänder vi oss till då? En viktig fråga för oss kristna. Det är så enkelt att man jobbar på i egen kraft genom problemen i stället för att vända sig till Herren med dem. Men Gud har ju lovat oss att Han skall bära våra bördor, och mer än så, Han har sagt till oss att vi ska hjälpa varandra att bära bördorna.

Det är så lätt att glömma den här biten när problemen hopar sig och blir till hög berg. Men det är ju just då som vi verkligen behöver kasta oss helt och fullt på Gud och a en förtröstan till att Han ska ge den rätta hjälpen i rätt tid.

Jag vet om en person där modern gick igenom en tuff period, vilket ledde till att modern började dricka. Spriten förstärkte draget av självömkan och att bli redigt envis och påstridig. Vid ett tillfälle skulle då denna fulla mormor promt ta med sig sina barnbarn ut på stan. För att ta sig till stan skulle barnbarnen in i bilen och hon skulle köra. Dottern sa nej om och om igen och till slut fanns ingen utväg annat än att rusa in till sängen, böja knä och ropa till Herren. Nästan på en gång, kom maken in och började prata med henne och hon sa till honom att vara tyst. Men han fortsatte tala och när hon verkligen lyssnade så berättade han, att hennes mamma hade somnat mitt i det fortsatta käbblet därute vid bilen och han behövde hjälp att bära in hennes mor. Gud bröt in på en gång, direkt när hon böjde knä och grät ut inför honom.

Vi har säkerligen många av oss varit med om säker där när vi väl vänt oss till Herren så griper Han in. Men märkligt nog så kan vi glömma dessa saker där Herren gripit in senare när andra problem uppstår. Så till vida är vi människor konstiga.

Gud har i sitt ord sagt till oss att kasta våra bördor på Honom 1 Pet 5:7 och inte endast en gång. Vilken otrolig Gud vi har.

Stormar gör det emellanåt för oss alla, problemen blir till höga berg om ser nästintill ointagliga ut. Och de flesta av oss är inte bergsbestigare.

Hur får vi rätt perspektiv när allting känns tufft? Det är en sak att veta att Herren bär våra bördor och att våra syskon i tron ska hjälpa till att bära dem, en annan att verkligen förlita sig på att Herren och syskonen är med och bär dem.

På något sätt behöver vi få vingar och flyga, för om vi ser på höga berg från ett flygplan så ser de inte så stora ut. Kort och gott så behöver vi se på problemen från Guds perspektiv, i stället för från våra egna.

En sång kom upp i mig, vilket händer titt som tätt, den användes flitigt som evangeliserings-sång på 70-talet.

1. Om du bär på frågor som du ej har svaret på, missmod hotar gripa dig och ingen hjälp du får. Minnen du vill glömma ger dig ångest i din själ, men en sak vill jag säga; Jesus gör allt väl.

2. Om du har bekymmer som ingen ro dig ger, himlen är så mörk och grå och ingen sol du ser. Kanhända du ej vet det, men Guds ord är alltid sant och allt som Han har lovat, det håller också Han.

Jesus är inte endast svaret för vår värld, Han är också svaret för oss kristna och på våra problem. Det som stod ut för mig i sången och det som faktiskt kom upp var 2:a versen. Bekymmer har en tendens att skymma solen och allting blir svart som natten. I dessa stunder är det extra viktigt att vi faktiskt har våra ögon fästa på Jesus själv.

Om överdriven trevlighet dikt av John Bunyan

Hur överdrivet noga många människor är, om sina kroppar och sina hushåll här. Men det som är värt nåt, det går dem förbi, ändera gör de inget alls, eller ovetandes förblir.

Deras hus är väl möblerat, det kan lätt då kännas tryggt, mens´deras själar hänger lösa, är det yttre pyntat snyggt. Utsidan måste de försköna, fast de knappt har ärlighet, sina kroppar de måst lura, trimma, för att dölja inrets´smutsighet.

På deras kläder får ej finnas fel, men det är blott ett yttre spel. De pratar vitt om kost, diet, själens gråt, den döljs av detta klet.

Utåt sett ser allt så bra ut, inuti det torka är, de ej på livets bröd kan tänka, tanken kan ej stanna där. Deras insida är fattig, det stinker utav ondska där, på utsidan är rent och fint, ack så sorgligt är det här.

Rätt eller fel kunskap.

                        Guds kunskap eller världens kunskap.

I den tid vi lever i med all information som finns tillgänglig så är det lätt att vi fastnar i att lyssna mest på negativa saker. Men även om vi lyssnar på både positivt och negativt, så finns det en tendens att det negativa är det som tar överhanden. Detta gäller allting, inte endast covid, även om detta nu verkar vara det enda som det diskuteras om.

Jag får erkänna att jag många gånger tror att det är en nackdel att vi har tillgång till så mycket information som vi har idag. Detta att följa nyheter, vare sig det är via tv eller tidningar, det tar inte endast upp vår tid. Allt vi läser och hör går in och påverkar oss också, på ett eller annat sätt.

Det är väldigt enkelt att det vi tar in, faktiskt tar över vårt tankeliv, och därför också styr oss. En hel del kan även påverka oss på så sätt att Gud blir mindre än det vi läser om. Tro och fruktan blir ställda mot varandra, och tron på Gud hamnar på andra plats, oavsett om vi ser det eller ens vill tänka tanken.

Mängder av information som finns tillgänglig idag, kan vara bra, men också dåligt. Informationsflödet vi idag har tillgång till dränker oss, på sätt och vis. Det som är positivt är att vi enkelt kan googla och få svar på alla våra frågor. Negativt är dock att vi då tar in allt det negativa – det i sin tur kan få oss att bete oss precis som hypokondriker.

När den världsliga kunskapen växer, då förminskas också Gud. Vi ser det i samhället i stort. Där den världsliga kunskapen kommer in, går Gud ut. Jag menar nu inte så att Gud själv lämnar, utan folket lämnar Gud, för människan själv kan och vet bättre själv.

För alltför många kristna blir effekten av att kunskapen växer till, likadan, även om dessa inte vill kännas vid det.

Det är rätt så kusligt att Daniel 4:12 profeterar om att kunskapen ska växa till och människor ska ränna fram och tillbaka i ändens tid. Vi är där nu, det är inte något vi behöver vänta på att det ska ske. Informationen vi behöver finns ett knapptryck bort och vi ränner efter en det ena än det andra, förutom den allmänna stressen som existerar idag.

Ju mer kunskap vi kan hämta in, desto mer förlitar vi oss på den kunskapen, detta gäller även vår egna kunskap, som vi inhämtat via det vi läst eller lyssnat på. Det i sin tur kan påverka oss så vi inte ser att vi sätter denna kunskapen över Gud själv.

Anses det jag skriver som tjat, ja då får det göra det. För någonstans behöver vi som kristna faktiskt få Gud i främre rummet och kunskapen som vi kan inhämta i bakre rummet.

Världslig kunskap kontra gudomlig kunskap. Den världsliga får oss lätt i sitt grepp och gör den det så styr den oss. Det kan vi se bl.a. i de som är helt beroende av att veta hur vädret ska bli, de kan inte lämna hemmet utan att föst ha sett vädret. Och det är inte alltid så att dessa prognoser är vad som verkligen väntar heller. Att det är så kan vi också idag se genom att alla datorer och mobiler ger oss tillgång till att få veta vädret var vi än befinner oss.

Den gudomliga kunskapen handlar om att lära sig vem Gud är, vad Han har gjort, d.v.s allting som har med det därovan att göra. Det är här vi borde söka vår kunskap, inte via yttre världsliga källor.

Kunskapen om Gud och allting gudomligt, den är själva livsnerven för oss som kristna. Utan denna kunskap går vår tro på grund, andligt sett. Det är i kunskapen om Gud och allting gudomligt som vi måste växa till.

Gud och den gudomliga kunskapen står i kontrast mot världens kunskap, som förnekar att det ens finns en Gud. Utan den så kan vinden föra oss vart som helst. Precis som klippan för vår frälsning är Jesus, så är denna kunskap som ett sorts ankare som håller oss fast i rätt kunskap, även som en sorts kompass, så att vi inte går vilse i allt som vill tränga sig på.

Googlar vi på; Vad är kunskap? Så kommer svaret; Detta har människor funderat på sedan antiken, Platon och Aristoteles var bland de som började fundera på vad det var, hur den produceras och vem eller vilka som förvaltade tidigare kunskap och formar ny kunskap. Det kommer också upp olika sätt att inhämta kunskap och olika namn som den kan fördelas in under. Kort sammanfattad information;

Kunskap är inlärd förmåga att förstå, återge och tillämpa information och idéer. En person kan själv utveckla ny kunskap genom att dra slutsatser ur praktiska erfarenheter och upptäckter, genom att kombinera annan förvärvad kunskap eller genom systematisk forskning med hjälp av vetenskapliga metoder.

Inom den filosofiska disciplinen kunskapsteori (även kallad epistemologi) utgår man ofta från Platons definition av kunskap som ”trosföreställningar; som är både sanna och man har goda skäl att tro på".

Kompetens = en persons förmåga att utföra något med hjälp av kunskaper och färdigheter som är kopplade till det som ska göras.

Explicit kunskap = en viss typ av information

tyst kunskap = kunskap som samlats in via erfarenhet. Kunskapen är subjektiv och intuitiv. Det är svårt att omvandla tyst kunskap till explicit kunskap.

Aristoteles delade kunskap i tre former:

1. Episteme - "behövs för att förstå hur världen är uppbyggd och fungerar"

2. Techne - "behövs för att kunna tillverka, skapa och producera"

3. Fronesis - "använder vi för att kunna utveckla ett gott omdöme och verka som etiska människor och demokratiska medborgare"

Sätt detta mot kunskap om Gud och det gudomliga. Bibeln är klar över att den mest värdefulla är kunskapen om Honom. Utan kunskap om vem Gud är och vad som är gudomligt, hur ska vi dåkunna veta vad som förväntas av oss.

Visdom kommer från Gud, från skriften, resultatet av Guds visdom är kunskap och förståelse. Ordsp. 2:6 och i Jakobs brev får vi veta att vi fritt kan utbe oss om denna kunskap och Gud ska ge oss generöst av den. Kunskap början med Gudsfruktan och Gudsfruktan är att vörda Gud. Vörda = högakta, hedra, ära, dyrka, helga, tillbe.

Bibeln kallar den mänskliga kunskapen för värdelös. Mänsklig visdom gör människorna stolta. Den blåser upp os hellre än fostrar oss i kärlek. Därför är strävan efter kunskap som är utanför Gud, ren dumhet.

Vi blir inte visa på mänsklig kunskap, det blir vi endast genom gudomlig kunskap. Gudsfruktan är nödvändigt för gudomlig kunskap, och gudomlig kunskap behövs för att bli vis.

Om vi inte redan tänker på detta, så är det hög tid att vi börjar tänka på det.

Right or wrong knowledge.

            God´s knowledge or the knowledge of the world ?

In the time we live in with all the information that´s available to us, it´s easy for us to get caught up in listening mostly to negative things. But even if we listen to both positive and negative stuff, there´s a tendency that the negative is what prevails. This applies to everything, not just covid, although this now seems to be the only thing being discussed.

I must admit that I often think that its a disadvantage that we have access to as much information as we have today. Following news and wheather via television or newspapers, does not only take up our time. Everything we read and hear goes in and also affects us, in one way or another.

It´s very easy that what we take in, actually takes over our thought life, and therefore also controls us. A lot can also affect us in such a way that God becomes smaller than what we read about. Faith and fear are set against each other, and faith in God ends up in second place, regardless of whether we see it or even dare to think that thought through.

Lots of the information available today can be good, but a lot also bad. The flow of information we have access to today, drowns us in a way. What´s positive is that we can easily google and get answers to all our questions. The downside however, is that we then take in all the negative - which in turn can make us behave just like hypochondriacs.

As worldly knowledge grows, God and His knowledge decreases. We see it in society at large. Where the worldly knowledge comes in, God goes out. I don´t by this mean that God himself leaves, but rather that people leave God, because man himself can and knows better than God.

For too many Christians, the effect of their growth in knowledge is the same, even if they don´t want to feel it.

It is quite eerie that Daniel 4:12 prophesies that knowledge will grow and people will run back and forth in the end times. This is where we´re at now, we do no longer need to wait for it to happen. The information we need is a push of a button away, and we run after this and that, in addition to the general stress that exists today.

The more knowledge we gather in, the more we rely on that knowledge, this also applies to our own knowledge, which we have acquired through what we have read or listened to. This in turn can affect us so we don´t see, that we put this knowledge over God himself.

If what I write is considered annoying, well then it must be so. For somewhere, we as Christians actually need to have God in the front room and the wordly knowledge that we can acquire in the back room.

Worldly knowledge versus divine knowledge. The worldly gets us easily in its grip and if it does, it controls us. We can see this i.a. In those who are completely dependent on knowing what the weather will be like, they cannot leave home without first seeing the weather. And the case isn´t always that these forecasts are what in reality awaits either. We can also see that this is the case today by all computers and mobile phones giving us access to know the weather wherever we are.

The divine knowledge is about learning who God is, what He has done, i.e. everything that has to do with tat which is above. This is where we should seek our knowledge, not through external worldly sources.

The knowledge of God and everything divine, it´s to us christian the very lifeblood. Without this knowledge, our faith is destroyed spiritually. It is in the knowledge of God and all things divine that we must grow.

God and the divine knowledge stands in contrast to the knowledge of the world, which denies that there even is a God. Without it, the wind can blow us anywhere. Just as the rock of our salvation is Jesus, knowledge is to us like a kind of anchor that holds us to the right knowledge, even like a kind of compass, so that what we don´t get lost in everything that wants to intrude.

Silent knowledge = knowledge gathered through experience. Knowledge is subjective and intuitive. It is difficult to transform tacit knowledge into explicit knowledge.

Aristotle shared knowledge in three forms:
4. Episteme - "needed to understand how the world is structured and works"
5. Techne - "needed to be able to manufacture, create and produce"
6. Fronesis - "used to be able to develop a good judgment and act as ethical people and democratic citizens"

Put this against knowledge of God and the divine. The Bible is clear on the fact that the most valuable thing is the knowledge of Him. Without knowledge of who God is and what is divine, how can we even know what is expected of us.

Wisdom comes from God, from scripture, the result of God's wisdom is knowledge and understanding. Prov. 2 6 and in the letter of Jacob we are told that we can freely ask for this knowledge and God will give us generously of it. Knowledge begins with the fear of God and the fear of God begins with reverence to God. Reverence = esteem, honor, glorify, worship, sanctify, worship.

The Bible calls human knowledge useless. Human wisdom makes people proud. It inflates us rather than nurtures us in love. Therefore, the pursuit of knowledge that is outside of God is stupidity.

We do not become wise from human knowledge, we can only become wise through divine knowledge. The fear of God is necessary for divine knowledge, and divine knowledge is a necesaty to become wise.

If we haven´t lready thought about this, ten it would be about time that we do so.
